Afterburner Levelling & Cutting pad
$10.00 – $18.00Price range: $10.00 through $18.00
The Afterburner pad is like a turbo or supercharger for DA polishers to increase their capabilities even further with very fast levelling and cutting speed but with superior finishes to denim and velvet pads
Best For
- Paint levelling on soft to medium hard paints
- Requires a sanding interface pad to use on DA polishers so it can contour to body panels
- Removes 25% orange peel on soft paints with finishing polish in some cases
- Can remove 25% or more of orange peel in many paints but finishes better than denim or velvet pads - either none, minimal or minor refining work to get the perfect finish is necessary depending on paint hardness
- Leaves a flawless finish, some haze or super shallow pigtails that polish out with a finishing foam pad very easily.
- Less heat generation on DA polishers than denim or velvet.
- Creates a slightly higher clarity and colour richness on the paint after a foam pad to finish than wool and foam combined
- Lower speeds are all that you need - doesn't require speed 3 to 6 just 1, 2 or 2 1/2
Shipping & Discount
- Discount for 6+
- Free Shipping over $150
- Size note: First number is the velcro size, second is the foam pad size
Description
The Afterburner pad is the newest pad material to the Pad King range and possibly the biggest innovation in extreme cutting and levelling pads since denim and velvet pads from Asia which hit Australia, the USA and other western countries in 2010-2011. It has better finishing capabilities and less heat generation on DA polishers.
The ideal uses for this pad is reducing paint texture aka orange peel on soft and soft-medium paints, reducing or removing stains, shrink back marks, bird poo etching in paintwork that has not fully etched it and caused crazing/cracking yet. As well as removing severe swirl marks on soft medium to medium hard paint faster than other pads with a DA polisher especially 25 mm orbit stroke machines and larger. The added benefit is a slight improvement in paint clarity after finishing out the polishing process with a foam finishing pad
Follow up the use of this pad with a light polishing or finishing foam pad to eliminate any moderate haze, very fine pigtails or tick marks
Use with a soft, thick backing plate on a rotary polisher and a 10 mm thick micro hook sanding interface pad on a DA polisher to allow the pad to contour to body panels
When the pad is new it feels like velvet even though it is not made of velvet but once the pad feels super smooth and isn’t doing any cutting at all, that’s when it’s time to bin it and use another one.
